Machining FSAE Specialist (Freshman year)

•Helped system designers with design for manufacturing (DFM) and machining

o Machined 3 key components requiring CNC work (8 total parts)

•Taught new members how to safely operate shop equipment and educate them on how to design with manufacturing in mind (20+ members taught)

System Lead - Unsprung Mass (Junior Year)

•Responsible for upright and hub design/manufacturing and overseeing wheel, tire and brake caliber selection

•Designed uprights to meet stiffness targets and redesigned hub for an easier method of positively retaining center lock nut

•Evaluate feasibility of using 3D printing titanium to manufacture the uprights

FSAE @ Carnegie Mellon

Joined CMU’s Carnegie Mellon Racing as a freshman and was with the club till through to Junior year. Was a part of CMR’s first ever electric vehicle, taught other students how to machine, & got to drive the car on the buggy course.

Steering Design (Sophomore Year)

•Analyzed tire slip angles and suspension dynamics to optimize steering geometry

•Improved upon last year’s design by simplifying system design and manufacturing key parts to better tolerances in order to eliminate “stiff” steering feel

Why no senior year?

My junior year it was clear the club wanted me to be a machinist & I wanted to explore robotics.

This allowed me to dedicate more time to TruLie, a robotic system where I played ME, EE, and SW roles.
