“Real Flight” - VR Flappy Bird
Flappy bird simulator is a single-player experience where the user plays a game similar to flappy bird. The twist being the person gets lifted up and down as they play the game.
Our team created the game which ran on a google pixel and communicated over Bluetooth with Arduinos. A wrist mounted ardunio with accelerometer told the game when the user flapped & instructed the actuator to move up.
My main roll on the project was the linear actuator, including system integration (mechanical, electrical, and software). No limit switches were present so care was taken to ensure overtravel wouldn’t break the system or drop the user.
This project earned us Officers Choice, where the organizers voted on their favorite project.
